The digital timer has become a household item in India and now the government wants to make it compulsory for all citizens to have one by July 1, 2018.
The move comes after an earlier deadline of September 1st was missed due to a strike by the garment industry.
The government wants all citizens in the country to have at least one digital timer and that it be a “digital-ready” device.
It has also been announced that the government will introduce a bill in Parliament in the next few days to make the timer mandatory.
India is the world’s largest manufacturing hub for electronic gadgets.
According to the United Nations, the country is home to some of the most advanced electronic gadgets and is now one of the top five countries in the world for smartphone penetration.
